Dengue fever is one of common disease which infected many people around the world. The actual numbers people who infected by this disease are underreported. So, some research show many kinds of result. A study published in Nature ( April 2013 issue) showed that there are approximately 390 million people worldwide indicate positive dengue infection per year. Another study , of the prevalence of dengue, estimates that 3.9 billion people in 128 countries are at risk of infection with dengue fever. In the other side, WHO estimates that 50-100 million infections occur yearly, including 500,000 dengue hemorraghic fever ( DHF) cases and 22,000 deaths, mostly among children. The results of research are warning for us to decrease this disease by know more about the causes, the symptoms, and the steps to prevent of dengue fever.

First of all before we prevent this disease we must know the causes. There are for dengue viruses ( DENV) that cause fever, all of which are spread by a species of female mosquito known as the  mosquito, and rarely by the Aedes albopictus mosquito. This mosquito also transmits chikungunya, yellow fever, and zika infection. The virus is transmitted from an infected mosquito to human. The process begins when a person who is infected with the dengue virus is bitten by an Aedes aegypti  mosquito, the virus is then passed on when someone else is then bitten by the infected mosquito. After virus incubation for 4–10 days, an infected mosquito is capable of transmitting the virus for the rest of its life. Actually Aedes aegypti originated in Africa, but nowadays is found in all the tropical areas around the world and prospers in and close to areas of human population.

If someone has infected by this virus, they will feel some pain. Begin 4-7 days after the mosquito bite and typically last 3-10 days. Mild dengue fever is form of the disease hardly ever results in serious or fatal complications. The symptoms of mild dengue fever are aching muscles and joints, body rash that can disappear and then reappear, high fever, intense headache, pain behind the eyes, vomiting and feeling nauseous. Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) Symptoms during onset may be mild, but gradually worsen after a number of days. DHF can result in death if not treated in time. Mild dengue fever symptoms may occur in DHF are bleeding from your mouth/gums, nosebleeds, clammy skin, considerably damaged lymph and blood vessels, internal bleeding, which can result in black vomit and feces (stools), lower number of platelets in blood - these are the cells that help clot your blood, sensitive stomach, Small blood spots under your skin, and weak pulse. Dengue shock syndrome is the worst form of dengue which can also result in death, again mild dengue fever symptoms may appear, but others likely to appear are intense stomach pain, disorientation, sudden hypotension (fast drop in blood pressure), heavy bleeding, regular vomiting, blood vessels leaking fluid an the last is death.

There is no vaccine available against dengue, and there are no specific medications to treat a dengue infection. So, prevention is the most important thing we can do. Absolutely the best method of prevention is to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes. We can do preventing mosquitoes from accessing egg-laying habitats by environmental management and modification, disposing of solid waste properly and removing artificial man-made habitats, covering, emptying and cleaning of domestic water storage containers on a weekly basis, applying appropriate insecticides to water storage outdoor containers, using of personal household protection such as window screens, long-sleeved clothes, insecticide treated materials, coils and vaporizers, improving community participation and mobilization for sustained vector control, aplying insecticides as space spraying during outbreaks as one of the emergency vector-control measures, active monitoring and surveillance of vectors should be carried out to determine effectiveness of control interventions.

So, we can’t judge that this disease just common disease. Although the causes just because a mosquito, but the results lead cause of serious illness and death among children. From the explanation of dengue fever’s prevent above, important for us to keep our environment and ourselves clean. Check up yourselves early if you feel like the symptoms above, before it bring fatal complication. Let’s together we save the world from dengue fever.
